Just back from viewing Valentines Auction rooms in Shropshire. Initially the sale looked promising from the online catalogue unfortunately the majority of the “Chinese Antiques” were reproduction with wrong descriptions and huge estimates. Buyer Beware

Lot 677 Valentines Description: Impressive pair of heavily carved Chinese cinnabar lacquer vases probably late 19th C with incised Qianlong mark to base 45cm tall. Estimate: £2,000 – £3,000

Lot 678 Valentines Description: Chinese stoneware celadon glaze type vase of tapered octagonal form – the glaze with crackle finish and sand colouring 24cm Estimate: £2,000 – £3,000

Lot 681 Valentines Description: Chinese celadon glaze pear-shape vase with handles and hoop rings in 18th C style six character Yongzheng mark to base. 26cm tall Estimate: £300 – £400

Lot 672 Valentines Description: Moss green glazed Chinese pear shaped vase elephant mask handles to each side possibly 19th century with impressed 18th century six character Yongzheng mark 28.5cm tall Estimate: £300 – £400
